The oldest museum in Japan, exhibiting precious cultural assets from Japan and the East. The Western-style main building has a tiled roof and boasts a dignified air. When the exterior lights up at night, it has an even more stately presence.

- 9:30 AM–5:00 PM (open until 8:00 PM on Fridays and Saturdays; last entry is 30 minutes before closing)
- Mondays (open if Monday is a national holiday and closed the following weekday) and other temporary closings
- Admission fees depend on the exhibition
